GuaSha is an ancient Chinese healing technique that some may refer to as theraputic scraping. Why? Because that is what is actually happening. Kirby  will use a special tool, like the one shown above, and gently scrape your skin in a downward motion. This is meant to address stagnant energy or Qi that may be responsible for inflammation. Scraping your skin in this manner is thought to increase microcirculation of your soft tissues and allow for better blood flow. Some conditions that Guasha can help with include: fevers, chronic pain, fibromyalgia, migraines, breast engorgement due to nursing, perimenopausal syndrome, and neck pain to name just a few. Come in and see if GuaSha is a right fit for you.

The term TuiNa means "pinch and pull" and refers to a wide range of Traditional Chinese Medicine therapeutic body work. TuiNa is not generally used for pleasure and relaxation, but rather as a treatment to address specific patterns of disharmony. TuiNa goes beyond the muscles, bones, and joints to work with the body on a deeper, energetic level. It is usually a clothed body work technique.

QiGong is PinYin for "energy work." This is a session incorporating meditation and movement to improve health. It is similar to Reiki, the Japanese energy work modality.

We proudly offer community style acupuncture every Wednesday night. Community style is an exceptional experience because everyone in the room contributes to the healing process since everyone's energy can be felt. Unlike a private session, community style uses what's called antique points. These points are found on the lower legs and feet, and arms from the elbow down to the finger tips. Head, neck and ear points can also be used where appropriate. Space is limited to 6 per session, and sessions are at 4:30 and 6pm. (Additional sessions upon request with a minimum of 2 patients)

Cupping is an ancient form of alternative medicine used by the Chinese, Egyptian, and Middle Eastern cultures. It dates as far back as 1550 B.C. Our acupuncturist uses special cups and places them on your skin to create suction. This is done by using a flammable substance (such as alcohol) to heat the inside of the cup. The cup is then placed on the skin and as the air cools, it creates a suction. (Rest assured that the cups are not hot and will not burn you.) The cups are then left in place for several minutes. This will cause your skin to redden as the blood vessels expand. Some of the things cupping can help with are: high blood pressure, migraines, allergies, asthma, anxiety, depression, rheumatic diseases and many other conditions. Talk to Kirby to see if cupping is a good fit for you.
